The 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon won’t lose any of its predecessor’s capability, if these spy photos are to be believed.
Up front, the Power Wagon looks like it again makes use of the company’s innovative Articulink front suspension, with a five-link in the rear. Plan on the electrically disconnecting front sway bar to make a return as well. It’s possible Ram plans on upgrading the Power Wagon’s drivetrain; the current Power Wagon makes use of a stout AAM 9.25-inch axle up front and an AAM 11.5-incher in the rear, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the new Power Wagon offers updated, modernized versions of each. Tires will once again be Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs measuring 33 inches in diameter.
We also would love to see the Ram Heavy Duty’s 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel I-6 make an appearance behind the Power Wagon’s stylized grille. The current Power Wagon can’t accommodate the Cummins as its standard winch takes up too much space on the truck’s front end. Maybe the truck’s all-new platform can rectify that slight issue. If not, the 6.4L Hemi V-8 will still do just fine in the off-road special.
We should see the 2020 2500 Power Wagon debut with the rest of the Ram Heavy Duty lineup sometime next year, perhaps at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
